Founded in 1892 by the Dewar family under the name John Dewar & Sons, Ltd. Aberfeldy Distillery began whisky production in 1894. During World War I, production was halted due to food shortages but resumed in 1919.

The Production:

Aberfeldy Distillery, located near the town of Aberfeldy in Scotland, has a significant production capacity of approximately 3.4 million litres of spirit per year. The distillery uses the double distillation method and operates with four pot stills, including two large wash stills and two smaller spirit stills. The shape of the stills follows the classic Scottish pot still design, allowing for a round and smooth character in the whiskies produced.

The Malting and Warehouse:

Aberfeldy no longer conducts its own malting and instead sources malt from large malting companies. The whisky produced at Aberfeldy is known for its mild and smooth taste, and they primarily use American oak ex-bourbon casks for maturation. The warehouses at Aberfeldy are old brick buildings that have been refurbished for visitors, featuring spotlighting and a wooden floor.
