Founded in 1895 by Alexander Edward, who was also associated with Benrinnes distillery, Aultmore distillery was one of the prominent distillery owners during his era. The distillery was temporarily closed during World War I due to food shortages and later sold to John Dewar & Sons Ltd.

Introduction:

Until 2014, Aultmore distillery had very few standard bottlings, making the unofficial Flora & Fauna bottle the go-to option. There are numerous independent bottlings available for Aultmore whisky.

Given its affiliation with John Dewar & Sons (part of Bacardi), a significant portion of Aultmore’s production is used in the Dewar’s Blend. Aultmore is also a key component of the Old Perth Blended Malt.

Production:

Over the years, Aultmore distillery has increased its output to around 2 million liters of pure alcohol annually. The distillery operates with four stills, and the water source is known as Auchinderran burn.

Pot Stills:

Aultmore distillery features two wash stills with a capacity of approximately 15,500 liters each. The spirit stills are also sizable, with a capacity of about 15,000 liters.

Malting:

Unfortunately, Aultmore distillery ceased malting operations in 1968.
