Bosch Edelbrand

The distillery was established by Johannes Renz shortly after World War II. Presently, the third generation of the family manages the operations. In 1997, they made the strategic decision to expand their product offerings by introducing Bosch whisky to their range.

Introduction:

The Bosch distillery, as of 1997, has introduced Whisky to their offerings. Currently, their selection includes a single standard bottling of grain whisky and a limited edition single malt expression. Traditionally, the distillery specializes in crafting premium German fruit schnapps, encompassing varieties like apple, pear, herbs, and more.

The Production:

Certainly, the exact quantity of whisky produced at Bosch is not available in our knowledge. However, it’s noteworthy that the distillery takes pride in its heritage and sourcing practices. All the grain used in their whisky production originates from organic Swabian farms, underscoring their commitment to quality and sustainable sourcing.

The Pot Stills:

The Pot stills employed at Bosch distillery are characteristic of traditional German fruit schnapps stills. These stills are relatively compact and possess distinct edges. Notably, they lack reflux bowls. The unique design of these stills contributes to the whisky’s pronounced fruitiness. A notable feature of these stills is their method of heating – instead of using hot steam, they are fired with wood, which imparts its own influence on the distillation process.

The Malting:

Bosch distillery exclusively acquires regional organic malt for their production. The malt is crafted from dinkel wheat, which undergoes traditional drying over beech wood. This method contributes to the distinct characteristics of their whisky.

The Warehouse:

The inaugural and sole standard bottling of Bosch distillery’s whisky has been aged in Limousin oak casks.
