Introduction:

Official Bottlings: Speyburn Distillery focuses on its 10 – year – old expression as the centerpiece of its official bottling range. They also offer an official 21 – year – old, 25 – year – old, and 30 – year – old bottling. The current range includes the 10 – year – old, 25 – year – old, Brandan Orach (meaning ‘Golden Salmon’ in Gaelic), and occasionally the Speyburn Clan Cask aged in Pedro Ximinez Sherry casks.

Independent Bottlings: Numerous independent bottlings of Speyburn have been released, primarily by Douglas Laing and Gordon & MacPhail. These independent releases span from 12 years old to 30 years old, including Distillers Choice bottlings.

Production:

Water Source Speyburn draws water from two local sources, the Broad Burn and the Granty Burn, both of which contribute to the River Spey.

Capacity The distillery has a production capacity of 1 million liters per year. The renowned distillery architect Charles Doig designed the distillery’s buildings.

Pot Stills :

Speyburn has one wash still with a capacity of 13,500 liters and one spirit still with a capacity of 13,563 liters. These medium-sized stills deviate from the traditional Speyside shape, featuring wide necks to maximize copper exposure.

The Maltings:

Speyburn used to lightly peat its own malt until 1968 when it switched to buying malt from an industrial source. It was the first distillery to install a drum maltings.

The Warehouse:

Speyburn has two traditional dunnage warehouses where its Single Malt is aged. The distillery employs a combination of ex-Bourbon and Pedro Ximinez Sherry casks for maturation.
