Introduction:

Drumshanbo Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is a unique whiskey that combines malted and unmalted Irish barley with Irish Barra oats. It undergoes a triple distillation process to achieve its desired flavor profile. Following distillation, the whiskey is matured in a combination of Sherry Oloroso and Kentucky Bourbon barrels. This maturation process allows the whiskey to develop its distinct characteristics and flavors. The use of different types of barrels adds complexity and depth to the final product.

The Gin:

The Shed Distillery’s flagship product, Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, is indeed renowned for its distinctive flavor profile. Crafted with a blend of 12 carefully selected botanicals, including Chinese lime and Chinese gunpowder tea, it offers a unique fusion of Irish and Oriental flavors. The Gin is meticulously distilled in small batches using traditional copper stills, with a slow-distilled approach that contributes to its smooth and mild flavor.

In addition to the classic Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, The Shed Distillery also produces the Sardinian Citrus Edition. This special edition features the addition of rare Sardinian citrus fruit called “Sa pompia,” which imparts a fruity and fresh aroma to the Gin. The combination of these botanicals creates a distinctive and flavorful gin experience.

The History:

The Shed Distillery, founded in 2014 by PJ Rigney and his wife Denise, brought the distilling tradition back to the Irish province of Connacht after a gap of 101 years. This revival marked an important milestone in the region’s distilling history and contributed to the growing Irish spirits industry. PJ Rigney’s vision and passion for distillation led to the establishment of The Shed Distillery and the creation of its unique and acclaimed spirits, including Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin.
